Grave Concern

Promoting preservation, restoration, and maintenance of Lancaster County's historic graveyards
Grave Concern, Inc., formed to promote the preservation of historic graveyards throughout Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, facilitates the exchange of information through regular educational, cultural, historical and technical assistance programs. It promotes professional preservation, retoration, and maintenance for burial sites, and it raises and admniisters funds for such procedures.
Begun in 1990 as a committee of interested persons in Lancaster County historical organizations, Grave Concern, Inc., is composed of historians, genealogists, archaeologists, cultural preservationists, engravers, funeral directors, educators, and others who care about Lancaster County heritage and the ancestors who passed on that heritage.
Members appreciate the importance of burial sites as cultural resources and are committed to the protection of these sites from unwarranted disturbance. Left unprotected, human burial sites can with time fall victim to expediency and impulsive exploitation in order to achieve short-term economic or personal goals. Such irreversible destruction of significant cultural resources should not be tolerated.
