Johann Jacob was born Oct. 8, 1702. He married Anna Margarethe Friesen Feb.8, 1728. She was a daughter of Heinrich F. Friesen of Essenheim. They emigrated to America from Rotterdam in 1742 and arrived in Philadephia with their 6 children Sep.3, 1742. Jacob, as he was known, took out a warrant for 115 acres of land in Martick township along the Beber(Beaver creek) near the present town of New Providence. A year later Jacob and wife had their seventh child, the only one born in America, named Christopher.
Jacob died in 1785 and was survived by his wife and all of his children. He is possibly buried in the Eckman-Kunkle graveyard, not far from the Pequa Reformed(now Zion) church.

Christopher Winters was located in his early manhood on a farm near Providence(New Providence, Providence twp, Martick twp. prior to 1853), which he cleared from the woods. After the death of wife Esther it appears Chris Jr, put his affairs in the hands of his brothers, John, Joseph, and Simon, by deed of voluntary assignment Sep. 16, 1833, then left for Ohio where some time later he married Prudence. His brothers as assignees made the following conveyances:
At the time of his death Chris Jr. was a resident of Muskingum County, Ohio(which is located about 40 miles Northeast of Lancaster, Ohio). He may have previously lived in the westerly portion of the state as evidenced by the item below.

Silas was born July 5, 1821.
His mother Esther Gochenour died Feb.1, 1823 after the birth of the third child, the namesake of Esther. The death occured either during childbirth or within 30 days of it. Very soon thereafter Silas' father Chris went west to Ohio formally assigning his various properties to his brothers to dispose of. At this time it is unknown what happened to the children and who they were raised by, but it is apparent they stayed behind in Martick twp.

On June 8, 1846, the second wife of Silas' father Chris Jr., now widowed conveyed by Indenture thirds interest subject to dower to Silas and his sister Esther and her husband William Gontner.
